Product Description

Nepheline Syenite is a coarse to medium grained rock resembling granite in appearance but differing from its composition. It is made essentially of feldspar (both albite and microcline) and Nepheline, a feldspathoidal mineral with composition (Na, K)AlSiO4.

Nepheline is intercrystallised with the feldspar and some what resembles quartz. No quartz is however, present in Nepheline Syenite.

Nepheline Syenite competes with feldspar as a source of alumina and alkalis in the manufacturing of ceramics, container and sheet glass. Alumina reduces the tendency of glass to devitrifies and improve its chemical durability while the alkalis act as a flux.

Nepheline Syenite is also used in the manufacture of vitreous white wares, glazes, enamels and to a lesser extent in structural clay products.

Nepheline Syenite can be used for the manufacture of a rich variety of white wares products including dinner ware, sanitary wares, floor and wall tiles, electrical porcelain, dental porcelain, porcelain balls, and mill liners.

Nepheline Syenite used by glass industry is characteristically a -30 mesh and +200 Mesh product having an alumina content in excess of 23% alkali content in excess of 14% and iron oxide content less the 0.1%.

Nepheline Syenite used by glass industry is characteristically a -30 mesh and +200 Mesh product having an alumina content in excess of 23% alkali content in excess of 14% and iron oxide content less the 0.1%. For ceramic industry Nepheline Syenite is ground to typically - 200 mesh and is characterized by its high fluxing and low level of iron and other impurities.
